Student Group Funding

 

All SU affiliated Student Groups are entitled to funding, however there are ways in which you can gain some extra cash for your club or society, such as Open Day and Top-Up grants. You should be able to find all the information you need below, but in doubt please email Roger Weston.

 
OPEN DAY EVENTS

The maximum amount available for open days is uncapped, it is available to clubs, societies and volunteering projects who would like to run an event or training session on an open day to promote the university and your student group to prospective students.

GIVE IT A GO GRANTS

The Give-it-a-go Grant is for Students’ Union affiliated Student Groups, a group of students that want to form a group to explore ways of solving a specific social problem, individual students or University of Northampton alumni (No more than 2 years). The purpose of the funding is to allow students to:

  • Improve their own skills so that they can apply them to solving the social problem
  • Develop the solution to the social problem
  • Measure the impact of the solution

HEALTH AND SAFETY GRANTS

Health and Safety grants are uncapped; they are available to societies, clubs and volunteering projects who may need safety equipment for their activity. This must be specifically identified within your Risk Asessment.

TOP UP GRANTS

Top-up grants are uncapped and are available to those societies that would like to run an event or activity aimed at increasing or diversifying their membership, or training their members or volunteers.

NEW SOCIETY GRANTS

New society grants are uncapped and are available to all new societies (2017 - 18). You may apply for promotional items or to cover your setup costs i.e. equipment or funds for venue hire.

TIER FUNDING GRANTS

Tier funding is available at the beginning of the academic year (September) to fund the regular activities of societies, and act as your core funding for the year. New societies will not be eligible to recieve Tier funding until the following year.

CLAIM YOUR POINTS

Claiming your points means your Society will receive Tier funding the following year. This will allow your group to develop and expand by funding bigger and better activities.

Sports Engagement grants are uncapped and are available to either clubs that would like to run an event or activity aimed at increasing or diversifying their membership, or new clubs looking to fund their activity.

 EVENT/ACTIVITY ENTERPRISE FUNDING

The Event Enterprise grant is available to any student-led group (club or society) or just a group of students who wish to host a yearly event or activity. The event/activity must generate enough money for you to repeat the event or activity the following year and invest in your student groups' future development.  

This funding is here to help you kick start your event, and cover the one off set up costs.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

Student Development grants are uncapped and are available to any of our volunteers at the Students' Union who would like to take a training course, which will add value to their student group. This includes members of clubs, societies and volunteering projects.
