International Students Mentoring

What is the Buddy Scheme?

The Buddy Scheme seeks to help newly arrived International students to settle into the area and University life in Northampton as easily and comfortably as possible. The Buddy Mentors try to help you adapt to life by guiding you through some of the UK's subtle differences in culture and organisation, or if you are a bit worried about leaving home for the first time.

The Buddy Mentors are made up of second or third year students (both UK and International Students), who want to help you to find your feet and also learn about your culture. They will meet with you over a cup of British Tea or coffee (if our tea is not your thing), to find out about what you want from the scheme and how best they can guide you.

Who is it for?

If you are a newly arrived international student then this scheme is for you!

The Buddy Mentors are here to help you settle into life at Northampton, from where to find the library to the best place to get a cup of coffee in town. You will also be paired up with a Buddy family for the first term when you are here. While paired up you will be taking part in a number of group or one-to-one chats.

If you feel like you need a mentor for a longer period of time, it can be extended on a case by case basis.

What do the Buddies Do?

They also organise events or activities, such as games nights, movie nights, cultural dinners.

You can even join the Buddy Committee Team, to make suggestions for activities for and trips that you could do for everyone.
