On this site visitors will find:

Getting to Northampton

Based in the heart of the United Kingdom, the University has many good transport links at its disposal by way of the M1 motorway and train lines. Northampton Railway Station is located approximately half a mile from the town centre and within the town of Northampton itself are many regular bus services. University-run bus service 'Uno' links both campuses to other locations in Northampton such as the town centre and train station. Northampton is also easily accessible from five major international airports including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted, London Luton and Birmingham.

If arriving by train visit the National Rail website to check services.

Buses

The University, and the Students' Union, are served by a number of bus routes, principally the Uno Bus Service, a social enterprise owned by the University of Northampton in partnership with the University of Hertforshire.

During term time, Uno buses leave every 10 minutes from 7am until 6pm making it an easy and environmentally friendly option by which to visit us. Avenue Campus is currently served by the 19 and 19A, Park Campus by the 19, 19A and 21.

You can find out further information regarding the Uno Bus Service, its routes and current timetable by visiting the Uno website

Cycling

Northampton is a very cycle friendly town and a number of students find traveling by bike the easiest (and cheapest) for getting around! The University has 350 bike parking spaces across both campuses so you'll never be short of spaces. You can find a cycle parking map for Park Campus here

You can also take advantage of the Cycle Connect bike hire scheme - our very on "Boris Bike" scheme just like in London - there are docking stations on both and Avenue Campus in addition to the train station, town centre and popular student suburb, Kingsthorpe. You can find out more about the scheme including how to register by visiting the Cycle CoNNect website.

Walking

The University of Northampton Park Campus is a brisk, 1 hour long walk from Northampton town centre, bus station and train station. The quickest (and less hilly) route is to take the Barrack Road north, leading on to the Harborough Road (passing Asda, Aldi, another Asda and Waitrose on your left) before turning uphill onto Boughton Green Road on which the campus is located.

Avenue Campus is a more comfortable 30 minute walk from the town centre. One can again head north on the Barrack Road before turning right on to St George's Avenue. One can also take a leisurely walk through the Mounts area of Northampton by walking through Overstone Road before cutting across the Racecourse Park. Please do note however, that it is not advisable to walk across the Racecourse when dark.

You can plan your own route by using the Google embedded maps above.

Parking

For visitors traveling by car, parking is available on both campuses. Visitor parking at Avenue Campus is located in front of Quinton building, or at the rear of Newton building. Visitor parking at Park Campus is located in Car Park 4. These spaces can be reserved by the member of Students' Union Staff you are visiting - be sure to request it, as spaces are limited during term time.
