The University of Northampton Students' Union is looking for a number of student staff able to support the Finance Department's provision of professional accounting and finance services to the Students' Union.

Principally this will be achieved in this role through the processing of stock order invoices, resolution of any issues arrising in this processing and ensuring adherence to financial procedures.

Event/Venue Security

The University of Northampton Students' Union is looking for a number of student staff able to manage entry to the Students' Union, ensure entrance is efficient and safe and as such that customers can enjoy themselves in a safe and comfortable environment.

Principally this will be achieved in this role through control of the entrance, recording of customer visits and the investigation of any disturbances or incidents within the building. 

Please note an SIA badge on application, whilst desirable is not a condition of application. SIA badge training will be provided should the appropriate candiate not already possess one.

Student Volunteer Roles

 

Assistant Sports Coach

If you are passionate about your sport, have significant playing experience and are a member of an eligible Club then you may be able to train to be a VOLUNTARY Assistant Sports Coach.

You’ll need to be willing to put the effort into gaining your qualification and prepared to commit volunteering hours to support your Club over the coming year.  Most important is a commitment to both your sport and to improving performances – yours and your team-mates.

You will also receive support to work toward the achievement of the University of Northampton Certificate in Employability if you choose to do so.

Hours: 3 - 4 hours per week

Nightline Listeners

We’re looking for empathetic people, who have great listening skills to train to be our first NIGHTLINE VOLUNTEERS.

NIGHTLINE will give students in distress someone to talk to by providing a confidential phone line to one of our volunteers every night. 

You’ll need to be non-judgmental with good communication skills; but the most important thing is people with the time and ability to just listen.

In addition to free training specifically for the role, you will receive support to work toward the achievement of the University of Northampton Certificate in Employability if you choose to do so.

Sexual Health Promoter

If you love talking to people, if you’re outgoing and bubbly – and if you’re not easily embarrassed! – this fun VOLUNTEERING role could be for you.

Your job will be to promote safe sex by handing out free condoms and safe sex supplies around both campuses.

You’ll get free training, and support to work toward the achievement of the University of Northampton Certificate in Employability if you choose to do so.

Hours: Approx. 2 hours per week

Sports Development Placement

This VOLUNTARY role is for students who have successfully completed the first year of the Sport Development course and need to complete a placement for the completion of their second or third year.

You’ll agree on a programme of activity with our Sport Development Coordinator focused upon developing participation in a particular sport, and then you will deliver the project including recruiting students, managing budgets and liaising with stakeholders internally and externally.

You will also receive support to work toward the achievement of the University of Northampton Certificate in Employability if you choose to do so.

Hours: 120 hours across the academic year
